LSC Connect: Hi Chavindi, can you please tell us about yourself?
Chavindi: I received my Bachelors of Business in Economics and Finance from Auckland University of Technology (AUT), New Zealand. During my time at AUT, I was selected to study a semester at Nanyang Business School in Singapore, which is ranked among the top business schools in the world. During my undergrad years, I completed several internships to sharpen my technical and behavioral skills in corporate environments. These include Citi Bank, Hayleys PLC and Fonterra Brands Lanka. In my last year at University, I served as a Student Tutor and a Research Assistant to the Economics Department. Upon graduation, for being recognised as a top business scholar of 2013/14, I was awarded the lifetime membership of the international honor society serving business programmes, Beta Gamma Sigma.
LSC Connect: That is such an achievement. You must have felt extremely proud.
Chavindi: Yes, I did. Beta Gamma Sigma membership is the highest recognition a business student anywhere in the world can receive and lifetime members earn the right to be considered ‘Best in Business’.
LSC Connect: Why did you choose to study at BSC?
Chavindi: The main reason is the flexibility offered by the BSC MBA. With the nature of my current job, it is difficult for me to commit several weekday evenings and every weekend to attend class. At BSC, due to spaced out modules, I can get my studies done without interrupting my work duties.
LSC Connect: What do you hope to achieve from getting this qualification?
Chavindi: I hope to fine tune and reach greater heights in my career while adding value to my employer through improved business methods I learn during my MBA. My expectation from a MBA is to get the knowledge of how to apply business concepts to do what I do better. I feel that, assignments given at BSC are very practical – more than just a mere test of knowledge – and therefore, help me fulfill my expectation of this qualification.
LSC Connect: How are you finding the experience so far?
Chavindi: Enriching, I have noticed that I look at business situations with a holistic view and thereby aim to provide business solutions that fit all aspects of the issue, rather than just looking at a part of the issue.
LSC Connect: What are your plans after completing your course?
Chavindi: I wish to look at the possibilities of following the DBA course at BSC.
LSC Connect: What are your future ambitions?
Chavindi: I aspire to become an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Solutions Architect.
LSC Connect: Well Chavindi, thank you for your time, we wish you all the best on your MBA and we will be keeping an eye as you progress in both your academic and professional career.
