COPTE, the LSC Group’s charitable foundation was registered officially with the Charities Commission in September 2011 and follows the simple ethos:
“ … to support the education of children who find themselves in the state of destitution or poverty… and who would benefit from financial support in order that this poverty cycle may be broken.”
All the supported projects are currently overseas and the work started in the various countries has been brought to the attention of COPTE by both LSC staff and students. These include:
- Maw Sevana Boys’ Home in Colombo, Sri Lanka
- Morning Star School for Deaf and Hearing Impaired Children in Bamenda, Cameroon
- Nyumbani Home and Village in Kitui, Kenya
However, these children’s projects were already receiving generous donations from the LSC prior to the the formalisation of COPTE in 2011. Many young people worldwide have benefitted from the philanthropic support and commitment generated by the Andradi family.
As a result of COPTE, youngsters in Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Cameroon who would not otherwise have had the chance to enter higher education or vocational training have been sponsored by ongoing support and scholarships. At the same time school extensions have been built in the form of extra classrooms and library facilities in Kenya, Cameroon and Sri Lanka.
