The vision to provide quality education at an affordable price globally lead to the strategic decision by the founder and CEO of LSC, Mr Tim Andradi, to look beyond the shores of the United Kingdom. In 2005, he did just that with his first acquisition of an offshore operation. “We were growing rapidly in London, but I wanted to ensure that the company’s fundamental philosophy went global and that we had an internationalisation strategy that would help diversify the company”, says Mr Andradi. The purchase of Academi Bintang in Malaysia marked the start of LSC’s internationalization and global expansion. The institution was renamed Westminster International College (WIC).
From its humble beginning of 63 students for its first ever intake, the campus grew from strength to strength in reputation and student outcome. After a decade of operation, its 1500-strong student population from 90 countries enjoy quality education in English, foundation studies, undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
“With the desire by the Malaysian government to create an educational hub in the Asia Pacific region and to be the center of educational excellence for foreign students, there is a tremendous possibility for this institution to grow to be one of the larger players in this market place. It is already is one of the larger providers of the Master of Business Administration in the whole of Malaysia”, Mr Andradi.
The fully accredited campus currently runs the Cardiff Metropolitan University undergraduate and postgraduate business programmes. Its flagship MBA for Executives programme has an excellent reputation with the corporate sector with a number of its alumni occupying positions of influence in large multinational companies.
The campus is also in the final stages of negotiations for the launch of a Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA) programme. This is in response to overwhelming requests from its alumni base for a post-Masters qualification.
The high quality of its programmes is a direct result of the outstanding and dedicated faculty selected through a rigorous screening process. The combination of talented local faculty and the complement of ‘fly-in’ faculty have resulted in high completion rates and student satisfaction levels.
The campus is currently on two locations – the Southern Tower of the First Subang building and the 3rd floor of the Empire Mall, Subang Jaya. There are plans to consolidate the campuses to a single site at a convenient location.
