On 5 September, 187 graduands and their family and friends gathered at the Intercontinental Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, for the first ever Westminster International college (WIC) graduation celebration ceremony. Amid a palpable buzz of anticipation and excitement, the event opened with the procession of senior LSC and WIC academics accompanied by Highland bagpipers. The ceremony was chaired by WIC Chief Operating Officer, Dr Mahendra Chandra and degrees were awarded by Lloyd Powell, Head of International Collaborative Provision, Cardiff Metropolitan University. After the formal conferment of degrees, there was a classical musical interlude. Speeches were then delivered by guest speaker, Professor Selvaraj Oyyan Pillay, Director of Institute of Professional Development, Open University Malaysia and Dr Lester Massingham, MBA for Executives Course Director. After the student vote of thanks given by Wong Wai Kuan, Dr Helena Lim, LSC Alumni Coordinator gave the closing speech which included a life story about golf balls, pebbles, sand and coffee reproduced in this edition. After the formal ceremony, graduates, their family and friends mingled with WIC staff at a reception. Food and drinks were consumed, pride beamed from the faces of all present, cameras snapped, stories were swapped and much laughter was heard. Congratulations once again to all WIC graduates and a big thank you to WIC staff for organising a memorable and meaningful event.
